Proposal A : Society, Science and Technology: resizing strategies and interactions

Society, Science and technology: resizing strategies and interactions.
Studies regarding Society and its reflexive implications with science and technology have proven to be actual and extremely important for different dimensions of social inquiry. The different fields, including social sciences, in general and sociology in particular have attempted to better understand and explain their development and dynamics. They are, in fact, resized and reshaped by science that in permeating them, produces a technological trail – in the broad sense of the term, that is, not only machines, but everything that transforms the daily social reality and derived from scientific knowledge. This needs to be better understood, whether in the sociology of science itself, in the sociology of work, social differences, health, environment, and so on. The importance and need of discussion on the theme “Society, science and technology: resizing strategies and interactions” has been one of the concerns of contemporary sociological knowledge. In this sense, the proposed dossier aims to contribute with “NORUS” readers providing quality articles that arise from different fields of social knowledge but that have as key point the interrelationship between science, technology and society. Proposal B : Economic and Finance Sociology: Contemporary perspectives on economy, finance and their actors.
______________________________
The
proposed thematic dossier will gather articles from researchers who
work in the field of economic and finance sociology in Brazil and
abroad. Accepted papers will be the ones that innovate in their
theoretical and/or methodological approaches to unveil facets of the
economic and financial world and their recent changes. Papers can
address issues such as the formation and reformulation of economic and
financial elites, economic crisis, green economy, new forms of credit,
the creation of economic and financial objects, and companies and their
relation to finances. This wealth of analytical possibilities also opens
path to address issues involving actors in the financial world, such as
banks, investors, companies related to the financial market and its
objects, financial problems, rates, rules and discourses. These are some
topics, among other possibilities, that receive growing attention of
Brazilian society and that can be theoretically discussed, pointing out
how such themes can be addressed through the economic and finance
sociology perspective and they can also be empirically discussed. The
organization of this dossier intends to focus on papers that address
economic and financial issues, believing that they can contribute with
“clues” to understand the structure and dynamics of the contemporary
Western society.
